Tsavo West National Park
Kenya
8,000 Square Miles of Wild Safari Land
Man-eating lions terrorized railroad workers, building the ‘Lunatic Express’ line from Nairobi to Mombasa, creating a track that bisects this enormous area into two National Parks; semi-arid Tsavo East, and the more visited Tsavo West. It’s an alluring landscape with orange earth (coloring the elephants’ hides ochre), lava flows, rocky peaks, swamps and springs, supporting the Big Five.
