In the heavily forested peaks of the Virunga Mountains, live the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas. Trekking between 2-6 hours into this jungle to meet the gorillas face to face, is one of Africa’s most enriching wildlife encounters. Permits are limited, so it’s a rare privilege. Also living amongst these extinct volcanoes are golden monkeys, bush duikers and buffaloes.
