Set amongst craggy mountains and lush valleys, the Cape Winelands and its 600 or so wine estates are exquisitely beautiful. The whitewashed Cape Dutch gables and thatched roofs are distinctive to the Cape, as are the French estate names in Franschhoek 'French Corner'. Estates offer tastings, cellar tours, restaurants, picnics and other activities. For something new, try the local Pinotage varietal.
