In Our Travelers' Words
The Peacock Family
Multi-Generational Safari
"Our youngest, Emily is almost 7. And mom and dad are in their late 70's. And the rest of us fall somewhere in between - and I can tell you we ALL just had the best time! It's tricky to have a plan that appeals to everyone. The thought of our daily adventure was so exciting, that no one minded the early morning wake-ups - not even the teenagers! They were often the first ones on the jeep - as they couldn't wait to start the drive each day."
The Ousterhout Family
Family Safari
"My father-in-law had always wanted to go to Africa, and invited us all to go with him to celebrate his 80th birthday. We went with no expectations, and the trip was beyond anything we could have imagined. In each camp we were exhilarated to be so unbelievably close to animals. Our guides really turned the safari into an educational experience for the girls with in-depth discussions on not just the wildlife, but also history, culture, and the relationship between tourism and the environment. It was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime trip – but we hope to return."
Tamar Sherer & Chris Cooper
Active Safari
"This was our fourth trip to Africa, and by far the best. We keep going back because we love the whole experience: the people, the wildlife, their behavior, the environment, the accommodations, the music, everything. We chose Bushtracks for this custom adventure with two goals: to see the migration and to see the gorillas. Experiencing the migration was like witnessing a miracle in process. Could it get any better? Yes - the gorilla treks were the most exhausting thing we've ever done, but worth every exhilarating ache. Amazing!"
At the end of the day our travelers are most qualified to describe the African safari experience, and they certainly say it best.

DESTINATION
Entebbe, Uganda
Day 1
Entebbe lies on the sandy shores of Lake Victoria and even though it contains Uganda's International Airport, it's very laid-back, unlike the noisy congested capital city of Kampala, just 28 miles up the road. You might spend one night here on your way to or from your Uganda safari to see gorillas, chimpanzees, tree-climbing lions, hippos and unusual birds.
ACCOMMODATION SAMPLE
The Boma

This honest and unpretentious hotel-style guest house has local African decorations and a variety of room sizes for your pre-or-post Uganda safari stayover. There’s a balcony terrace for al fresco dining facing onto verdant gardens and the swimming pool.
DESTINATION
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda
Days 2-4
Remarkable for power not size, the whole of the Nile funnels furiously through a gap just 21 feet wide, then explodes through a fissure, dropping another 120 feet. After that, the river is white and frothing, so boat cruises stay a little way downriver. You'll see huge crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, wading elephants and perhaps a rare shoebill stork.
ACCOMMODATION SAMPLE
Nile Safari Lodge
3 Nights
Located in the majestic Murchison Falls National Park, Nile Safari Lodge is luxurious and eco-friendly. Escape the ordinary and experience the awe-inspiring spectacle of the Nile River, the world's longest river and Uganda's largest national park.
DESTINATION
Kibale National Park, Uganda
Days 5-6
Visitors come to Kibale specially for a glimpse of chimpanzees in the wild. It's one of few places where it's possible. Some troops are habituated, but that doesn't mean they sit still when you find them, nor stop their noisy natural behavior! While you're trekking into this lowland tropical forest, your guide may also point out shy duiker and bushbuck.
ACCOMMODATION SAMPLE
Ndali Lodge
2 Nights
Explore the lush 1,000-acre farm growing bananas, vanilla, and coffee, swim, or take a kayak on the crater lake for bird spotting. Enjoy the pool-with-a-view, sauna and yoga pagoda, and hike with chimpanzees in nearby Kibale Forest.
DESTINATION
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda
Days 7-9
Roaming around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest live some of the last remaining, critically endangered mountain gorillas. You could be one of the lucky few to trek into the jungle and spend an hour reveling in the tender feelings that arise from this encounter. There's also time to meet the pygmy Batwa tribe, high up in the rainforest.
ACCOMMODATION SAMPLE
Gorilla Forest Camp
3 Nights
It really is a jungle out there! This camp nestles deep inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, just minutes from the starting point for gorilla trekking. Gorillas sometimes come through camp and it’s known for the best bird watching in the area.
