Tarangire National Park, TanzaniaDay 2-5
This park is the best-kept secret on Tanzania's northern safari circuit. See lots of red elephants (from rust-colored earth) and 'upside down' baobab trees. Ancient migration corridors link through Tarangire, increasing the numbers of elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, elands, zebras, hartebeests, and oryx. The wet season brings wild flowers, clouds of butterflies, baby animals, and birds in breeding plumage.
Oliver's Camp3 Nights
Inspired by trailblazing camps of safari pioneers, this eco-camp in the remote southern reaches of Tarangire gives year-round access to plains animals and predator sightings. Day and night game drives, guided walks, and hot air ballooning provide plenty of excitement.
