The Great Migration Experience in East Africa

We are a year out from the magic that is the Great Migration, and it is time to plan your trip of a lifetime.

January to March is prime time to witness not only the migration itself, but also the calving season. This is the time to explore the Ngorongoro Crater highlands. An impressive 400,000 calves are born here during two to three weeks, which means 8,000 new calves every day. The photography opportunities are out of this world with green landscapes and stellar lighting. The wobbly legs of newborn calves trying to stand up for the first time are quite the spectacle.

The brutality of nature dictates that predators follow when it is calving season. They are drawn from near and far to take advantage of the easy prey. The birds also make for epic sightings since many are migratory. Your camera will not rest during this extraordinary safari during such an opportune season.
