2019 will mark 30 years since we started Bushtracks Expeditions, and to celebrate this major milestone we’ve put together an eight-country expedition that represents everything that inspired us then, and thrills us now: incredible wildlife, exotic destinations, and opportunities to learn through travel. And did I mention we’ll go on safari in search of lions and tigers?
I was born and raised in Zimbabwe, and have traveled extensively throughout Africa, India, and South America for the past 40 years. While our recent jet expeditions have been focused on Africa, with this expedition we’ll go farther afield, spanning multiple continents and oceans, and allowing us to see a tremendous range of diverse landscapes, wildlife, and culture in a single trip.
Traveling to nine carefully selected destinations by private jet, we’ll retrace the path of ancient trade routes in 24 days, making our way from Mount Etna to the Middle East and India, and on to Africa with island stops in between. It’s an exhilarating fusion of lions and tigers, maharajahs and Maasai, and temples and tropical escapes that you won’t experience with anyone else.
Throughout we’ll enjoy the incomparable company of Expedition Host Carl Safina, a conservationist and the author of seven books, including Beyond Words: What Animals Think and Feel, whose insightful work has been awarded the MacArthur, Pew, and Guggenheim Fellowships, among others.
Our journey is strategically timed to make the most of late November and early December. We’ll begin on Thanksgiving Day in Taormina, Italy with a Sicilian interpretation of the classic meal which we’ll enjoy with a performance by a tenor vocalist. From there, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to gather gifts for loved ones in souks and bazaars across Africa and Asia before departing for home December 21, 2019 with memories to last a lifetime.
