Tarangire National Park
Home of the Red Elephants
This park is the best-kept secret on Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. See lots of red elephants (from rust-colored earth) and ‘upside down’ baobab trees. Ancient migration corridors link through Tarangire, increasing the numbers of elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, elands, zebras, hartebeests, and oryx. The wet season brings wild flowers, clouds of butterflies, baby animals, and birds in breeding plumage.
