Kunene River
Namibia
One of the Most Remote Places in Southern Africa
The Kunene River creates the border between Namibia and Angola, with big rapids along its route. No river rafter in their right mind goes further downriver than scenic Epupa Falls, for fear of gigantic Nile crocodiles. Proud Himba live in this desert landscape and graze goats on sparse shrubbery, moving camp when necessary. A peek into their tribal life is enlightening.
