Kariba
Zimbabwe
A Beautiful Blend of Land and Water
When the Zambezi was dammed for hydro-electric power, Nyaminyami River God sent a once-in-a-thousand-year flood to show his displeasure. There's certainly something mysterious about Lake Kariba, with its drowned hardwood tree trunks and glorious sunsets. Watch game in Matusadona National Park and go fishing from boats, but never be tempted to swim ' there's a territorial crocodile every 100 yards of shoreline!
