Flooding in South Afrcia

Bushtracks pulls out all the stops to save a vacation.

When the Kruger National Park area flooded, our partners at MalaMala took the ethical and protective step of closing their game reserve and lodge on January 19th, to prevent environmental damage. But that was little consolation to a group of four travelers we had heading to MalaMala on the 20th. Since the entire area was flooding, another lodge was not an option.

By putting our collective years of experience together and making some phone calls to Africa very late Thursday night and early Friday morning, the Bushtracks team was able to put together and confirm a brand new itinerary in less than 24hrs for our guests to visit Tanzania and avoid the rains and flooding in Southern Africa.

And it is truly an excellent itinerary to fill the time they had, visiting the Ngorongoro Crater and visiting the Serengeti National Park to see the Great Migration.  We were able to get them into camps and lodges that we regularly highly recommend to all of our guests.  And we were able to secure the necessary internal flights to get them to Tanzania from Johannesburg where their international air tickets were already taking them and then on to Cape Town to complete their trip as originally planned.

Our success was built on our guests' flexibility and willingness to improvise. We're proud of the level of service we were able to provide. We work together and put our hearts into planning incredible vacations every day. But rarely is the challenge and reward as evident as it was on January 19th. Congratulations to all!
