Highlights of Southern Africa include:

  • Cape Town — Table Mountain, Cape Point Nature Reserve and wild flower kingdom, famous winelands, Robben Island and Nelson Mandela’s story.
  • Chobe National Park —Famous for its population of 30,000 elephants, get close to these animals by boat or by vehicle.
  • Etosha National Park —Namibia’s premier wildlife park is dominated by a large salt-pan and spring system. Explore with naturalists by day or night, even track rhino.
  • Greater Kruger National Park —Home to more species of wildlife than any other sanctuary in Africa and the best chance to view the Big Five – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard.
  • Hwange National Park —Zimbabwe’s largest national park. Expansive grasslands and woodlands, with game trails leading to water holes and pans.
  • Johannesburg —Tours include Soweto, hominid fossils, and Pretoria’s Union Buildings.
  • Linyanti —Characterized by a lagoon system similar to the Okavango. Surrounded by open grassland, riverine forest, and mixed woodland.
  • Lower Zambezi National Park —Absolute wildness. Exploring this park can be done by canoe, on foot, vehicle and power boat. The park covers three different habitats.
  • Makgadikgadi Pans—A relic of Africa’s greatest super lake, where early hominids once roamed. A comprehensive desert experience. Explore remote archaeological sites in the pans.
  • Mana Pools National Park —One of the most beautiful flood plains in all of Africa. Elephant and buffalo are a feature, as well as wild dog, leopard, and lion. Excellent birding.
  • Mashatu Game Reserve —A diverse wilderness of savannah, riverine forests, marshland, open plains and sandstone outcrops, studded with baobab trees in remote eastern Botswana. Archaeological sites include the Motloutse Ruins and the Pitsani Koppie Boer War sites.
  • Namib Desert —The oldest desert on earth where red sand dunes tower 1,000 feet above Sossusvlei. Beautiful scenery, vast desert plains and rugged mountains.
  • North and South Luangwa National Parks —A complex riverine and lagoon system. More remote and rustic than other parks. Game concentrations feature endemic Thornicroft giraffes, leopards, elephants, hippos, and lions.
  • Okavango Delta —The largest inland delta in the world. Pristine and uncrowded.
  • Savuti —An arid region in the southern part of the Chobe National Park. Best known for its large number of predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
  • Skeleton Coast —Desolate, uninhabited terrain, from soaring sand dunes to towering canyons, seals and shipwrecks. Visit authentic Himba settlements.
  • Victoria Falls —One of the Seven Wonders of the World. Activities include pontoon trips above the Falls, cultural visits, shopping and white water rafting.
