Natural History Tours Southern Africa Wing Safari

Unsurpassed in scope, diversity, wildlife viewing and culture, this classic African safari in Kruger National Park, Victoria Falls and the Okavango Delta delivers some of Africa's finest reserves and World Heritage sites for an unforgettable safari experience. You will explore five different habitats over the course of your 11 day safari adventure: Greater Kruger Game Reserve in South Africa; Victoria Falls; Chobe National Park in northern Botswana; the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana; and the Mashatu Game Reserve in eastern Botswana. Each day on safari, you will experience up-close game viewing and a variety of safari activities in small groups led by experienced naturalist guides. Delight as you see elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, exotic birdlife, bushbucks and monkeys. Visit a welcoming African village and school and study thousand-year old architectural ruins at Mashatu. Conclude your daily adventures in beautifully appointed safari camps where the comforts of cold drinks, hot showers, fine dining and comfortable beds await you.

Day 1

Johannesburg, South Africa

Arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa and check into your hotel before gathering for a festive welcome dinner with your fellow travelers.

Days 2 - 3

Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa

After breakfast fly by private air to your camp in the Mala Mala Game Reserve. The Mala Mala Game Reserve shares an unfenced 12 mile border with the famed Kruger National Park and lies between the park and the Sabi Sand Reserve. Over the next two days take jeep safaris in open four-wheel drive vehicles with rangers and trackers in search of the park's resident wildife: cheetah, zebra, wildebeest, black-backed jackal, wild dog, white rhino, black rhino, hippo and leopard.

Days 4 - 5

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Fly to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Walk to the famed Victoria Falls which are twice the height of Niagara Falls. Discover the area's history on a walking tour with your Expedition Leader and noted David Livingstone authority, Russell Gammon. Choose from optional extra activites such as helicopter or microlight flights over the falls and canoe and whitewater rafting trips on the Zambezi River.

Day 6

Chobe National Park, Botswana

Fly by private air to the Chobe National Park, where the Kwando, Linyanti and Chobe river system forms a series of lakes, islands and floodplains. These beautiful waterways are home to buffalo and elephant herds, as well as wild game and bird life. Your comfortable lodge is located on the banks of the Chobe River. Enjoy an evening sunset wildlife cruise with up-close game viewing on the Chobe River.

Days 7 - 8

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Fly to your luxury tented safari camp situated on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve for an authentic year-round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience. The Moremi Game Reserve offers sanctuary to abundant herds of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lechwe, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, sable antelope and more. Lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena are some of the resident predators.

Days 9 - 10

Mashatu Private Game Reserve, Botswana

Take a morning flight to Mashatu Game Reserve, a private reserve in the remote eastern corner of Botswana. Explore a diverse wilderness of savannah, riverine forests, marshland, open plains and sandstone outcrops, which is home to seven of Africa's giants: the African elephant, the baobab tree, the eland, the ostrich, the kori bustard, lion and giraffe. In addition to some of the most exciting game viewing in Africa, the Mashatu Game Reserve also encompasses historic and archaeological sites. Mashatu offers jeep safaris, walking safaris, horse safaris, mountain biking and more.

Day 11

Johannesburg and International Flights Home

After breakfast transfer to the Limpopo airstrip for a private flight to Johannesburg and onward to international flights home.
