Tom is a professional naturalist and lecturer who has worked with expedition cruising almost since its inception by Lars Lindblad. He has led ship-borne expeditions to almost all the coastal regions of Africa, as well as land-based trips to Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Completing his graduate studies at the University of Florida in vertebrate paleontology, anthropology and geology, Tom continues these pursuits by doing research and writing scientific papers and articles about natural history. As a paleontologist, he spent time in South Africa studying the extinct, mammal-like reptiles of the early Triassic period, but the modern flora and fauna and their adaptations fascinate him.
