Day 1

Arrive Johannesburg

Arrive in Johannesburg this morning, where we will be met and escorted to our luxurious hotel to rest and relax. Tonight celebrate the beginning of our adventure with a special welcome dinner.

Lodging: The Grace Rosebank Hotel

Days 2 - 3

Mashatu Private Game Reserve, Botswana

After breakfast transfer to a small regional airport, and board your private aircraft for Mashatu Game Reserve. In the eastern corner of Botswana this private reserve is home to elephants, buffaloes, lions, eland antelopes and giraffes. Here your active outdoor explorations begin with walking safaris, game drives, and night drives. Your lodge is a refuge of unparalleled "bushveld" comfort and service, blending in harmoniously with the game lands and teeming wildlife.

Mashatu also allows you to design your day with a variety of specialized optional outdoor activities (available at an extra cost) including elephant and leopard drives with a field researcher, archaeological drives, mountain bike safaris, and horse back safaris.

Lodging: Mashatu Safari Lodge

Days 4 - 5

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Again, a private aircraft whisks you to your luxurious tented safari camp in the Okavango Delta - a pristine floodplain in the Kalahari Desert. For two days, explore this wildlife-rich area in open four-wheel-drive vehicles. We'll stay alert to spot buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, zebras, cheetahs, and herds of giraffes. Evening boat trips will open your eyes to the lagoons of the Okavango and red sunsets. After each day of game viewing, we'll compare notes and trade stories over ice-cold sundowners, dinner, and coffee around the campfire.

Lodging: Xakanaxa or Camp Moremi Tented Camps

Day 6

Chobe National Park, Botswana

After a morning of game viewing, fly by private air to Botswana's most northerly town, Kasane, then take a short game drive along the Chobe river before checking into your lodge overlooking the river. This evening explore the river and its game-rich floodplains by boat. Renowned for its large concentrations of elephants, lions, buffaloes, and zebras, Chobe also offers sights of bathing elephants and glowing red sunsets.

Lodging: Chobe Game Lodge

Days 7 - 9

Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia

Board your bush planes and fly into Zambia and the remote Lower Zambezi National Park. Here the powerful Zambezi river forms an expansive floodplain dotted with islands and lagoons - home to great concentrations of big game, particularly elephants, buffaloes, leopards, lions, and wild dogs. The river is also full of huge crocs and pods of hippo, and a myriad of colorful birds such as carmine bee eaters.

Again excursions are active and include walking safaris, game drives, and night drives, and your luxurious tented camp offers beautiful river scenes, and dramatic views of rugged escarpments to the north.

Lodging: Chiawa Tented Camp

Days 10 - 11

Victoria Falls and Livingstone, Zambia

Today take a special flight-seeing journey. From the Lower Zambezi follow the river valley. Fly over Lake Kariba and the gorges and rapids of the middle Zambezi, ending with the river's crown jewel - the mile wide Victoria Falls. Circling the falls offers superb photographic opportunities, before landing at Livingstone. This evening take a short sunset walk along trails through the rain forest of the Falls, and tomorrow you can choose from a variety of activities - kayaking on the Upper Zambezi, visit a local village or the Livingstone Museum, or the colorful Maramba market.

Lodging: Royal Livingstone Hotel

Day 12

Depart for USA

Return to Livingstone airport and connect with international flights home.
