Today Bushtracks Rangers meet their Egyptian pen pals with a visit to their school. Return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure or explore the colorful Kan El-Khalili Bazaar, founded in the 14th century and one of the largest bazaars in the Middle East, or take some time to relax at your palatial hotel located in the shadows of the Great Pyramids of Giza. The following morning visit the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx. After lunch enjoy tours of Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt dating from 3,100 BC; the legendary city of Menes; and the necropolis of Sakkara with the oldest known of Egypt's 107 pyramids. Return to your hotel for the evening. This evening enjoy a special dinner at a private Egyptian home.
Take a morning private charter flight to St. Catherine's Monastery. Enjoy a guided tour of St Catherine's, a Greek Orthodox Monastery, constructed by order of the Emperor Justinian between 527 and 565, and said to be the oldest continuously inhabited monastery in the world. The monastery's spiritual heart is the Chapel of the Burning Bush. According to the oldest monastic tradition, this chapel sits atop the roots of the same Biblical bush that burned when God spoke to Moses for the first time. Transfer to St. Catherine Airport to board your private jet to Luxor. Arriving at Luxor you will be taken to your luxury hotel with a visit to the great temples of Karnak and Luxor.
After breakfast, visit the Valley of the Kings and Nobles on the west bank of Luxor, including a special tour of the tomb of King Tutankhamen. You'll also visit the Hatshepsut Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, then embark your special Dahabiya sailing boat for lunch on board. As we start our sailing up the Nile toward Esna enjoy dinner and first overnight on our exclusive river boat.
After breakfast in Esna, join your Egyptologist for a guided tour of the Greco-Roman Temple of Khnum built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Claudius. Relax on board and continue sailing up the river for lunch and prepare for your visit to El Kab and the remarkable tombs of the Nobles and army generals. Return back to your boat to get ready for a lavish buffet of Egyptian specialties with local music and dancing.
Take a morning tour of Edfu's extraordinary Temple of Horus, one of Egypt's best-preserved temples. Return back to the boat for lunch and sail towards Kom Ombo. Enjoy a BBQ dinner on one of the islands.
After breakfast on board, visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. Return to the boat for lunch. Relax and enjoy the scenery and dinner on board.
In the morning your Egyptologist escorts you to the Aswan High Dam for a look at contemporary Egyptian construction on a monumental scale. Later a short motorboat ride brings you to the Philae Temple on the Island of Agilka for a visit to the granite quarries and their Unfinished Obelisk. Enjoy your last evening aboard ship with a gala dinner.
After breakfast on board you'll depart the ship and fly to Abu Simbel via commercial air. Visit the great temples of Abu Simbel, built by the Great Ramses II, Egypt's longest ruling pharaoh. Check into your hotel for lunch and some rest before returning tonight to the temples site to enjoy a spectacular sound and light show.
Fly to Cairo and check in to your hotel, with dinner on your own. The following day visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, the world's greatest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including golden treasures from the world-famous tomb of King Tutankhamen. After lunch, visit Islamic Cairo: the 12th century Citadel and the Mosque of Sultan Hassan. For some last minute shopping, take time to stroll through the bustling Khan El-Khalili bazaar. This evening, gather for a final farewell dinner.
After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the airport for your homeward flight.
