Southern Africa
The Most Amazing Animals on Earth in Some of the Most Incredible Places
We are often asked about the difference between Southern and Eastern Africa. While they are both savannah areas filled with big game, they are both very different. In a general way Southern Africa is bushveld country. The savannahs have more trees and forests interspersed with vleis or meadows with tall grasslands, compared to East Africa. There are pure sand deserts like the Namib in Namibia. Inland deltas of papyrus and clear waterways such as the Okavango. Big river systems such as the Luangwa and Zambezi, and their respective floodplains where huge riverine trees provide superb habitat for leopard. You also have a wide variety of safari activities such as canoeing on the Zambezi, game drives, river cruises, night drives with spot lamps, and tiger fishing. Southern Africa also offers some of the best wildlife walking safaris, with a range of opportunities available in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
