      Quilalea Island

Escape to an Uninhabited Island Paradise

The next best thing to having your own private, tropical island is to enjoy Quilalea Island, one of the southernmost islands in the pristine Quirimbas Archipelago, 30 nautical miles north of Pemba. Uninhabited except for the staff and guests of the lovely Azura Quilalea private resort, the 86 acre island is home to baobab groves and stunning flora and fauna, offering access to an array of Indian Ocean activities. Its protected reefs offer some of the most spectacular snorkeling and diving in the world. Also available are saltwater or big game fishing, sunset sailing, picnics in splendid isolation, or cruises to other deserted beaches. Gaze at the dolphins, often spotted from boats, or track down humpback whales on their seasonal migration past the island’s shores. Remote and beautiful Turtle Beach is home to dozens of nesting turtles, and the island is also home to abundant birdlife.
