      Lake Naivasha

      Leopards Around the Lake

Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake that lies at an altitude of 6,200 feet, within the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, northwest of Nairobi. It is surrounded by green papyrus and yellow fever trees, and the Lake Naivasha National Park. Compared to other Kenyan reserves this is a relatively small park, but it’s beautiful and very productive. Hippo and buffalo wallow in the swamps. Giraffe stroll among the fever forests, and striking black and white colobus monkeys chatter in the tree tops. To birders, Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination with its incredible flamingo population one of its many features. For big cat lovers, Lake Naivasha yields an unusually high number of daylight leopard sightings.
