      Virunga Lodge

      Eco-Friendly Garden Lodge

Virunga Lodge is set on a stunning hillside with a panoramic view of the Virunga Volcanoes and shimmering Lakes Ruhondo and Bulera. The lodge is an ecofriendly accommodation that is elegant and comfortable, yet is committed to ecofriendly principles. The lodge has ten bandas (thatched houses). The terraced gardens on this high ridge are now well established, with a magical sunken paradise garden as their focal point. Environmental disturbance has been minimized by using solar power, reducing water consumption and controlling waste disposal. Pulley showers and biodegradable toilets are provided in the privacy of your individual accommodation. Aside from gorilla trekking, guests can climb the Visoke or Karisimbi volcanoes, track golden monkeys, visit Dian Fossey's grave at Karisoke or go for gentle strolls around the picturesque villages near the lakes. Gorilla trekking permits are issued by the government on a per person, per day basis at a cost of $1500 per permit and are not included in the accommodation cost.
