Shooting Star Lodge
Coconut Island Paradise
For a thousand years, Zanzibar was one of the world’s crossroads of trade, with Persians, Arabs and Europeans attracted to its exotic exports. Zanzibar’s history can be seen within the cuisine and décor of the island’s accommodations. The east coast of Zanzibar is lined with powder-white beaches which look out towards a long barrier reef, about a half mile offshore. Inland there's a coastal strip of coconut palms within which there are small fishing villages and a variety of places to stay. Shooting Star Lodge stands on top of a coral cliff, affording stunning views of the powdery-white Kiwengwa Beach. Built to an extremely high standard in traditional Zanzibari style with white limewashed walls, high beamed ceilings and large windows, each of the accommodation’s 16 villas and sea view cottages contain beautifully hand-carved Zanzibari beds draped with tailored mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms, beautiful batik bed covers, coconut wood wall mirrors, hand-made teak wood furniture and private terraces with sitting areas to enjoy views of the gardens, pool and ocean. The main areas consist of the central lounge, complete with cushion covered booths on either side of a walkway leading to the infinity pool, the bar where guests congregate before and after dinner for a few drinks from the well stocked bar, and the dining area with options to dine under a thatched roof or in the open air. Water and adventure activities as well as touring of Stone Town, the Jozani Forest, or Prison Island and the Spice Tours can also be arranged at a supplementary cost. Please advise if you are interested in additional activities and we will confirm availability and pricing.
