      Shamwari Bayethe Lodge

A Rich Nature Experience Near the Garden Route

Shamwari Game Reserve is located in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Allow nature to blanket you in the seductive tented accommodation of Bayethe Lodge. The refined tents are shrouded by the rich vegetation, providing privacy and a feeling of seclusion. There are three superior tents and nine luxury tents with varying bedding configurations, all sleeping two adults maximum. The superior tents feature a plunge pool, private deck, en-suite bathroom with indoor bath and outdoor shower, television with selected channels, a hammock, a fireplace and a private mini bar. The luxury tents feature comfort cooling and heating, a hairdryer, electronic safe, fitted international adaptors, an international dial telephone, a plunge pool, electric blankets, and a private minibar. Six of the luxury suites have indoor baths with outdoor shower and the remaining three tents have indoor spa baths with an indoor shower. The main lodge offers a gift boutique, a lounge area with TV, indoor and outdoor dining facilities, an outdoor deck with swimming pool and a business desk with internet access. Game viewing is carried out during the morning and evening when you are guided by your game ranger in an open game-viewing vehicle. If you have a particular interest, please mention it to your ranger; who will be happy to merge your plans with those of the group. The game drives will take between three and four hours, with a sundowners stop at sunset and a coffee stop in the morning. It is always advisable to bring warm clothing along, even in summer. In winter, a warm jacket, beanie, scarf and gloves are advisable. Guided walks can often be the highlight of your African trip, for it is only then that you gain a true perspective of the fauna and flora around you. These walks may only be carried out by specially trained and qualified game rangers. The birdlife at Shamwari Game Reserve is enough to keep a bird-watching enthusiast entertained for several days. So pack your bird book and binoculars and come visit Shamwari for a well-deserved birding holiday.
