      Segera

      Home to Many Endangered Species

Segera is the most central wildlife sanctuary in Laikipia, resting in the wooded savannah and grasslands of the Laikipia Plateau to the northwest of iconic Mount Kenya. Home to a vast array of wildlife, the area teems with myriad species of birdlife and provides an important corridor for the east-west migration of elephants and other wide-ranging species. Segera’s central location and expansive 50,000 acres at the very heart of Laikipia ensures that it is essential to effective wildlife and habitat management for the Ewaso ecosystem as a whole, forming a vital migratory corridor and providing a permanent home to many endangered species. This camp can accommodate up to 20 guests. The standard villas can accommodate 10 guests in total, the family villa 4 guests, Segera House 4 guests and Villa Segera 2 guests. The 6 timber-and-thatch villas project above a profusion of botanical life in the sculpture garden and, from their raised wooden platforms, gaze out onto the surrounding savannah, swing beds below providing the perfect shaded midday relaxation. The sumptuous Segera House and perfectly positioned Villa Segera boast similarly spectacular views and even greater privacy and luxury. Run on solar energy, the villas gaze out over the Laikipia Plateau towards the spectacular Mount Kenya. Within the privacy of the villas, a large bedroom and en-suite bathroom fill the upstairs space under spectacular timber trusses. A private sun deck in the garden offers comfortable sun loungers for soaking up the African sun and a swing bed for whiling the hours away, while a Jacuzzi bath, sunk into the deck outside the bedroom, has a pleasing vantage point. Each villa includes in its décor original, individually selected paintings and other art from a range of Africa’s most inspiring artists. Segera inspires and engages its guests through sustainable, private luxury experiences and a visit guarantees a unique experience – Africa from a completely different angle. Varied activities are offered such as day and night game drives, picnics and sundowners, hides and lookout points, guided walks, camel walks, visits to the botanical garden. A wellness center including a gym and spa are also available. Activities are flexible and can be tailor-made to your requirements and preferences. Morning and night game drives take place on abundant plains games, range-restricted species, endangered mammals, mega-herbivores and predators use Segera as well as neighboring conservation areas.
