      Sausage Tree Camp

      A Unique Wildlife Setting

The Lower Zambezi Valley is a huge rift in the earth's crust, through which the Zambezi River flows, providing attraction for wildlife. The landscape is beautiful: tall leadwoods, ebonies, acacias and figs stand on a carpet of rich grassland. But the main attraction is the area's game, including leopards, lions, elephants, hippos and other wildlife. Sausage Tree Camp overlooks an expanse of narrow channels and low-set reed islands teeming with game, with the magnificent Zambezi escarpment as the backdrop. Accommodation is in eight luxurious white Bedouin-style tents, furnished with local materials creating a minimalist style in which the teak furniture, including sumptuous four-poster beds, contrasts with pure white fabrics and flowing mosquito nets. Nearly hidden from one another, and shaded by mature sausage and mahogany trees, the tents are cool, private sanctuaries to return to for an afternoon siesta or good night’s rest. The open-air en-suite bathrooms and expansive teak decks with Zambezi River views are a signature of the camp. All tents have 24-hour power and plentiful hot and cold treated water. Sausage Tree Camp's African-inspired fusion cuisine will certainly be a highlight of your stay. Made from the freshest ingredients, the tastes and presentation will astound you. The experience of dining at Sausage Tree Camp will bring surprises and memories to cherish. Sausage Tree Camp offers a wide range of safari activities including day and night game drives, walks, canoe trips, boat cruises and fishing. With personalized guidance, guests decide exactly which activity they would like to take and when. Elephants, hippos and buffalo are seen in camp daily. Guests also have an extremely high chance of seeing lions, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, waterbuck, zebra, impala, bushbuck and kudu during their stay. Sausage Tree Camp employs knowledgeable and experienced guides, all of which are fully trained, licensed and have many years of experience, ensuring that the highest quality of guiding and safety standards are achieved.

        Off-Road Game Viewing

In national parks and some other reserves, rules prohibit leaving the designated safari paths. But the wildlife are not always considerate enough to stay nearby. Get better vantages (and better photos) by heading off-road.
