Luxury Tents in the Masai Mara in Kenya

Olonana is located in the Masai Mara, the heart of Kenya’s big-game country. The tents border the banks of the Mara River where the resident hippo spend their days wallowing. The Masai Mara is a fabulous place for seeing big cats as well as all of the Big Five, a variety of plains game and over 300 bird species. From around July to October, the Mara is the stage for the greatest show on earth – the wildebeest migration - when grunting herds of wildebeest and zebra rush across the rivers between Tanzania and Kenya, attracting crocodile, lion and cheetah. Olonana is a small luxury camp with 14 spacious tents. Each tent has floor to ceiling mosquito netting, en-suite bathrooms, solar lighting and large, river-view Verandas. The main dining room and veranda commands a dramatic view of the Mara River providing the perfect setting for breakfast, afternoon tea and after dinner stargazing. There is a swimming pool, a mini-spa and a small gift shop. Solar power supplies 240v electricity and there is a back-up generator. Olonana also features the Geoffrey Kent Suite, a two bedroom suite, available on an exclusive use basis. Included activities include game drives, cultural visits to local Maasai villages, sundowners, bush breakfasts and dinners. Experienced guides take you to all the hidden spots and customized safari vehicles offer all-round views, allowing for excellent photography opportunities. Or walk with our naturalist and learn about plants, trees and insects and their use in the daily lives of the Maasai tribe. Additional activities available at an extra cost include balloon safaris, spa treatments and flying excursions to local points of interest. Take off on a balloon safari ending with a champagne breakfast or book a trip to Lake Victoria with the option to go fishing.
