      Oliver's Camp

In the Thick of the Wildlife

Tarangire National Park is situated approximately 75 miles southwest of Arusha. It is renowned for its diverse bird population, large herds of elephant and majestic baobab trees. The density of game is second only to the Ngorongoro Crater. Each of Tarangire’s seasons has something unique to offer, game viewing in the Great Migration, enjoying walking safaris among diverse flora or dazzling over the bird life. The camp is the perfect base to explore and experience the best of Tanzania. Oliver’s Camp is located in the remote southeastern section of the Tarangire, allowing guests a privacy and exclusivity rarely found anywhere inside a national park. The camp staff offers warm welcomes and a level of expertise on many subjects, including photography, which makes Oliver’s Camp one of the most sought after camps in the region. The camp features 10 beautifully furnished guest tents scattered along the marsh edge with excellent views over the permanent water source. The interiors are rustic with furniture made from the timber of former dhows, lampshades adorned with Maasai beads, leather-bound books, tree-trunk bedside tables, solar-powered lights and an open canvas wardrobe. Each tent is covered by a traditional thatched roof and offers outdoor shower with indoor toilet and wash facilities. In the evenings, guests can relax in the lounge and library tent or enjoy sundowners around the fireplace after an exciting day. The range of activities on offer at Oliver’s Camp is unique inside a Tanzania national park. Off-roading allows you to get closer to the action, while walking safaris add another unique element to the safari. Walking is the absolute specialty of Oliver’s Camp. The privilege of walking in these natural areas gives you an exhilarating feeling of adventure. Although you will get close to large mammals such as elephants, giraffe, buffalo or even lions, walking safaris are very safe. The experienced guides of Oliver’s Camp and an armed national park ranger will accompany you on every walk.

        Off-Road Game Viewing

In national parks and some other reserves, rules prohibit leaving the designated safari paths. But the wildlife are not always considerate enough to stay nearby. Get better vantages (and better photos) by heading off-road.
