      Lewa Wilderness

A Safari Destination that Supports the Local Community

Lewa Wilderness is situated within one of Kenya’s major private conservation success, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, at the foot of Mt. Kenya. Sitting in the shadow of Africa's second highest mountain the climate at Lewa is perfect with warm days and cool nights. The plains and valleys are full of some of the most endangered animals on the globe. It is the unique partnership with local communities that gives a commitment to hospitality and conservation that goes right back to their beginnings in the 1930's. Lewa Wilderness has just nine exclusive rooms: Five are Hill Rooms looking down the Lewa's Western Marania Valley, the other four are Garden Rooms on the lush lawn adjacent to the main living areas. All have a sitting room area with a well-stocked bar and open log fireplace, for our frequent cool nights, as well as spacious en-suite facilities. We can take only eighteen guests at any one time. Activities on offer include game drives, horse riding, camel treks, walking with the Maasai, farm and craft tours, tennis and swimming. At extra cost, scenic flights in a bi- plane, cultural visits and massages can be arranged.
