      Chief's Camp

Exquisite Accommodation in Africa's Predator Capitol

Chief's Camp is located on Chief's Island, in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve within the Okavango Delta. This region is known as the “predator capital” of Africa and is the ideal setting for game viewing. Guest accommodation is comprised of 12 secluded, permanent luxury bush pavilions hidden away in a jackalberry and sausage tree woodland that is characteristic of the area. Each pavilion includes a private deck, indoor and outdoor shower, generously draped mosquito nets and traditional ceiling fans. Each room includes a spacious seating area and private game viewing deck, in-room safe, emergency intercom and minibar. En-suite bathrooms are equipped with a hairdryer. There is a communal decked living room with stunning views over the floodplains, while the dining area surrounds a fire pit on the very edge of the plains for continued game viewing while enjoying fine cuisine and wines. The main deck area is split-level and offers expansive views over the floodplain while the lower level of the deck houses an exquisite swimming pool. The main lodge complex houses the dining area, bar, curio shop, library and reception area. Electricity is supplied by a silent generator system allowing 24-hour power. Chief's Camp has been designed with consideration for the environment - all rubbish is taken outside the park for responsible disposal and the whole camp can be removed without anyone knowing it was ever there. The game viewing opportunities at Chief's Camp are awe-inspiring. On the plains one may find the roaming lions that prey on the thousands of antelope, zebra and buffalo who live here all year round. Guests may even see extremely rare wild dogs. Chief's is the ideal place to spot the Big 5 - perhaps even the rare rhino. There are several local lion prides as well as leopards, genets and hyenas in abundance. As a change from a game drive, the quiet, gentle pace of a mokoro (canoe) excursion is a real introduction to a way of transport still used in the Delta by the ‘river bushmen’ or BaYei people. This activity is subject to water levels.
