      Chief's Camp

Exquisite Accommodation in Africa's Predator Capitol

Chief's Camp is located on Chief's Island, in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve within the Okavango Delta. This region is known as the “predator capital” of Africa and is the ideal setting for game viewing. Guest accommodation is comprised of 10 secluded, permanent luxury bush pavilions hidden away in a jackalberry and sausage tree woodland that is characteristic of the area. Each pavilion includes a private deck, indoor and outdoor shower, a large bath tub, generously draped mosquito nets, air-conditioning and traditional ceiling fans. Each room includes a spacious seating area and private dining area, in-room safe, emergency intercom and minibar. En-suite bathrooms are equipped with a hairdryer. All the main and public areas are decorated in a 'safari chic' style including the bar and library area, the dining room has been expanded and now includes a pizza deck with pizza oven. Make use of the orientation room, where guests can learn more about the Delta before going on game drives. The camp also has a gym and kids’ play room. In addition to the bush pavilions, there is the Kent Luxury Suite, which can accommodate up to 6 guests. The Kent Suite features a kitchen, indoor lounge, boma with fire pit, deck area, private vehicle, private guide, a waiter, private bar and a private housekeeper. The game viewing opportunities at Chief's Camp are awe-inspiring. On the plains one may find the roaming lions that prey on the thousands of antelope, zebra and buffalo who live here all year round. Guests may even see extremely rare wild dogs. Chief's Camp is the ideal place to spot the Big Five - perhaps even the rare rhino. There are several local lion prides as well as leopards, genets and hyenas in abundance. As a change from a game drive, the quiet, gentle pace of a mokoro (canoe) excursion is a real introduction to a way of transport still used in the Delta by the ‘river bushmen’ or BaYei people. This activity is subject to water levels. Both of these activities are included in the accommodation cost. Spa treatments and helicopter flights are also available at additional cost.
